Mr. Schmidt grew up in Winthrop, Minnesota, a small town about 20 miles north of New Ulm. After graduating from Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop High School, he attended martin Luther College and graduated in December of 2000. He was assigned to teach 3rd-4th grades at St. Peter’s, Weyawega, WI. He taught there until 2004. After a short time away from teaching, Mr. Schmidt was called to teach 5th-6th grades and Athletic Director at Riverview Lutheran in Appleton, WI from 2013-2017. He then accepted a call to St. Stephen’s, Beaver Dam and served as Athletic Director and departmentalized Language Arts teacher from 2017-2020 before accepting the call to St. Luke’s. In 2018, Mr. Schmidt completed his Master’s Degree in Education from MLC.
Away from school, Mr. Schmidt enjoys spending time with his wife Becky and five children ranging from 18 years old down to 6. They enjoy a variety of activities from going to parks, taking walks, playing sports, games, and spending time at their families cabin in Minnesota. Mr. Schmidt also enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, and grilling. He and his wife also enjoy watching sports at all levels of play.
